​Driving License & Fitness to Drive

  1. You must hold a current valid driving license (provisional or full).
  2. You must create a license share code on the DVSA website and forward it to me along with the last 8 characters of your driving licence. This allows me to check your counterpart license now the paper copy is no longer used. (www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence)
  3. You must be able to read a number plate at a distance of 20.5m (i.e. 67 feet - about 5 car lengths) You must wear your glasses or contact lenses every time you drive if you need them to read the number plate at that distance.
  4. You must advise me of any medication you are taking that may affect your ability to drive safely before taking any lessons booked.
  5. I reserves the right to cancel a lesson if it is suspected that you may be unfit to drive due to the effects of alcohol or drugs (prescribed or otherwise), you should also inform me of anything you feel might impact on your ability to undertake the lesson safely. In such circumstances you will be required to pay for this lesson.
  6. In the interests of comfort and safety you are advised to wear suitable footwear and clothing.


Payment & Cancellations

  1. Where possible, all payments for training need to be paid in advance.
  2. I would prefer payment to be made by bank transfer, my bank details can be requested or will be offered when organising your lessons.
  3. If you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson a minimum of 24 hours notice must be given. Failure to do so will result in you having to pay the full amount for the lesson.
  4. I reserve the right to postpone lessons if I consider the weather or road conditions to be unsuitable or dangerous. I will arrange a replacement lesson that suits both parties .Unfortunately, I cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of me having to postpone or rearrange lessons.
  5. In the event that another student books a short notice test I may need to reschedule or cancel your lesson.  


Punctuality

  1. After arriving at the nominated pick up point for your lesson I will wait for 15 minutes. If after this time you have not made contact the lesson will be abandoned and you will be required to pay the full lesson fee.
  2. All lessons will start and finish at the same location unless arrangements have been made in advance.
  3. I will determine a location for your lesson. This may require me to drive you to and from the lesson location. This journey time forms part of the lesson time but will be kept to a minimum.


Practical Driving Test

  1. Driving tests are usually booked by the instructor through the instructor booking system, changes to these booking can then be made by either the Instructor or student after consultation with and agreement by the instructor.
  2. If you have a test booked but do not keep up with your lessons or, in my opinion, you are not safe to proceed with the test then I reserve the right to refuse the use of the driving school car. I will not be liable for any loss of test fees.
  3. Unless by prior arrangement driving tests will be preceded by a 1 hour lesson. It is therefore the case that a minimum of a 2 hour lesson is required for test days as there is a one hour charge for the use of the car during your test. If you desire a longer pre-test lesson, this can be arranged.
